Took a tour of the ancient city of Ephesus, the most impressive ancient site we saw during our trip. The tour guide was excellent because she had a personal connection with the ruins. Her college graduation ceremony was on the steps of the Celsus Library (the multi story structure shown below). And she attended two rock concerts at the huge ampitheater (Sting and Elton John!) before scientists determined that the sound systems were causing damage so they cancelled all future concerts. Emma was excited because she got to see 12 different cats (feral but friendly!) during the tour. After the tour, we drove back to Kusadasi and got to see a Turkish carpet-weaving demonstration (the owner happens to live in Seattle!).
