Emma (age 9) dressed as a witch for Halloween. She used her allowance to buy the cool witch shoes. In early November, Emma had fun being silly with Bernd and then with Ruby and Bianca. She went to Discovery Park with Dad and Bernd to play in the sand and climb trees and then to Magnolia Park to sit on the turtle.
In January, Emma's team won the 4th grade math Olympiad. She broke her arm at the beginning of January, so her friends had to do the writing to help solve the math problems! Dad took her to Discovery Park in February before she had her cast removed and again after she had her cast removed (finally, she could climb trees!). During spring break, Grandma and Grandpa Clements came to visit and we did the "Ride the Ducks" tour.
At the end of May and beginning of June, we traveled to our Orcas Island home for the last time (finally sold it after 3 years). Emma posed in front of one of the many trees on the property and played on the beach at Anacortes with Dad.
On June 1st, Emma had her piano recital at the Women's University Club in downtown Seattle. She got to play in the ballroom on a Steinway grand piano! We recorded her recital pieces, My Favorite Things and Chopin Etude, at home.
