Mike's visit to Novato from 7/29 - 8/1 in his 1980 Cessna 172. Perfect flying weather through Washington, Oregon and half of California. Every wonder what it's like flying a small plane from Seattle to San Francisco? It takes patience; the Cessna 172 cruises at 115 kts, about 132 mph. The inland route follows I-5 and takes 2 hops: Seattle (BFI) to Ashland (S03), 3 hours. Fuel up in Ashland then to Novato (DVO), 2.5 hours. Often there are forest fires creating limited visibility. This year they were all in So Cal, no fires between Seattle & Marin.
